What is social entrepreneurship?I delayed this week’s Driving Questions one day because I was attending The Social Entrepreneurship Day at UMass Amherst and wanted to tackle that question this week. I learned so much about this movement yesterday. It can go by a lot of names: Social Enterprises, Social Good Organizations, and Benefit Corporations, and others. I’ll call them all “social enterprises” for the moment. The important factor is that the organization creates social value or pays attention to the Triple Bottom Line. At the end of the day, all companies are “social impact organizations,” some just have a net positive impact and others do not. For inspiration, check out this list of 10 Social Impact Organizations, or this list of 25 Global Fellowships for Social Entrepreneurs, or this list of Social Good blogs.
